Many critters on display on Friday
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers hikes, walks and other educational programs free of charge. Some upcoming programs:
Canyon Critter: A program Friday in which the family can explore a different "critter" that flies, crawls, hops or trots. No sign-up necessary.
Desert Wildlife: From 10 a.m. until noon Friday, a naturalist will be in the Visitors Center's Friend's Room discussing wildlife native to the Red Rock Canyon area.
Reservations are required for all programs, which begin at the Visitors Center. To make reservations or for information, call 363-1922.
Lorenzi Park event planned
A Fall Garden Party will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Lorenzi Park featuring two events, a fall flower show in the Garden Club Center and a plant, food and craft sale in the outdoor garden.
The flower show will feature floral designs, horticultural specimens and educational exhibits. The horticulture specimens are representative of what gardeners can grow (indoors and outdoors).
The plant and craft sale will feature orchids, chrysanthemums, cacti, succulents, irises and garden craft items. Admission is free. Call 255-1263.
Safe Nest presents "Domestic Violence at Work"
9-11:30 a.m. Friday at Treasure Island. The seminar topics will include: the costs of domestic violence, potential legal liability including federal and state regulations, victim and employees rights; developing policies and procedures, and how training for all aspects of a company can reduce potential liability issues. Call Marilyn Homan at 877-0133, Ext. 242.
An aloha festival
will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Sunset Park. There will be crafts, food booths, groups performing on Saturday, a show by the Cook Islands Maori Cultural Society and more.
