Benefit walk on tap Saturday at UNLV

The American Heart Association will host the American Heart Walk at 8 a.m. Saturday at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Rep. Shelley Berkley, D-Nev., will help kick off the event. About 4,500 walkers usually participate in teams, walking 3.5 miles while raising funds from family, friends and associates for cardiovascular and stroke research and prevention education.

The event will feature music, food and health tips. For more information, call Barbara Ostrowski at 367-1366.

Two positions open on county committee

The Clark County Commission is looking for new members for the Boating Facilities and Safety Committee.

The committee is an advisory body to the commission and includes members of the Nevada Yacht Club, the Lake Mead Boat Owners Association and the Nevada Division of Wildlife, among others.

It meets bimonthly, in the afternoon of the second Thursday of the month at the County Government Center.

There are currently two memberships available for a two-year term starting in January 2002.

Interested parties should submit their applications by Dec. 7.

Applicants must be residents of Clark County and members of an organization involved with boating and water safety.

Estate planner Bolick receives special honor

The Nevada Community Foundation recently honored estate-planning attorney Robert L. Bolick.

Bolick, who works for the firm Bolick, Boyer & Fine, was recognized as the charitable facilitator of the year.

Former Sen. Richard Bryan presented the award.

Bolick is a frequent lecturer on estate planning and asset protection to the Nevada State Bar, and other Clark County organizations. He has co-authored a number of books on estate planning.
