Letter: Head off aliens at the borders

The name "homeland" gives me the creeps. It reminds me of South Africa, where the name was a symbol of racial hatred.

The last thing we need is another bureaucracy to protect us. Isn't it the existing agencies' failure to protect us and to enforce laws that are already on the books?

Protecting the homeland starts at the borders and ports of entry. Laws are broken daily. Coming from the north we call them illegals, from the south they're called undocumented.

The solution is in a nutshell. Put a padlock on the cookie jar. Stop handing out sweet come-ons! The days of comps are over. There is no free lunch.

Politicians have holes in their hands. They spend our money.

Save our shores! It is high time for John, Shelley and Harry to fix the hole or put our ship of state in dry dock.
