Letter: Make museums affordable

It is very nice to see the Venetian making such a wonderful contribution to Las Vegas culture by giving us the Guggenheim and Hermitage museums.
Unfortunately, Sheldon Adelson isn't doing much to encourage the local population to patronize these magnificent facilities. In case it has slipped his mind, economic times are tough these days in the Las Vegas area.
While there is a special rate for children, there is no discount for locals and no discount for seniors.
As a couple who fall into both of these categories, we would love to see the new museums at an affordable price. But we simply cannot afford the $60 it would cost for the two of us to visit both.
Perhaps one day, down the road, locals and/or seniors will have the chance to visit Venetian's museums at an affordable price. Meanwhile, it is a shame that Adelson has forgotten how Steve Wynn encouraged local attendance at his Bellagio exhibits via special pricing for Nevada residents.
