NLV Police host program tonight

North Las Vegas Police gang units will host a program at 6:30 p.m. today at the North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Dr., to teach parents how to recognize if a child has joined a gang.

Parents will learn about gang signs and what can be done. For more information, call Kathleen Hanselmann, 633-1070.

Councilman Brown will hear citizens

Councilman Larry Brown plans a series of neighborhood meetings in several areas of Ward 4 to give residents an opportunity to discuss important issues affecting their communities.

Some of the upcoming meetings, all scheduled at 6:30 p.m.:

Today: Edith Garehime Elementary School, 3850 Campbell Road. Oct. 18: Richard Bryan Elementary School, 8050 Cielo Vista Ave. Oct. 23: Edythe and Lloyd Katz Elementary School, 1800 Rock Springs Dr.

Memorial walk set Saturday at park

Walk to Remember, an event in memory of babies who die through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or newborn death, will be held 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Children's Memorial Park, near Rainbow Boulevard and Gowan Road.

Parents, health care professionals, family and friends will walk around the park with balloons bearing the names of babies they are remembering. The balloons will be released in memory of the infants.

Flu shots available at fire station

People 65 years old and older can receive flu and pneumonia shots at a reduced cost Saturday during an open house at the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Fire Station 3, at Rancho Drive and Washington Avenue. The event is in observance of Fire Prevention Week. On Oct. 20, the same service will be held at the department's fire training center at Mojave and Bonanza roads. Family to Family plans baby shower

A community baby shower will be held 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday at Family to Family Connection Northwest, 6114 W. Charleston Blvd., for expectant parents to showcase the free services of the center.

There will be demonstrations on how to bathe, diaper and burp newborns, and experts will answer various questions.

A breast care fitting seminar,

taught by Deborah Jordan of Diva Las Vegas, will be held 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Center of Excellence, 100 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite No. 330. Jordan will have information on under wires and prosthesis for women who have suffered from breast cancer as well as other tips. Reservations are required. Call 616-4900.

The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary

will hold its fifth annual Luncheon and Fashion Shop by Dillards at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Monte Carlo. The event will also feature a silent auction. Cost is $40. Call 870-4430, Ext. 10.
