Special program set at preserve
The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, 2400 B. Moser Drive, is hosting "Bird Tracks," an educational workshop for youth (ages 6-12), 9-11 a.m. Friday.
Participation is $3. The workshop is sponsored by the Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. Participants will spend the morning making bird feeders, birdhouses and other related arts and crafts.
The program is designed to install an interest in nature and wildlife among Henderson students. Parents are encouraged to tour the ponds with their children after class to see the birds in their natural habitat. Benches and trailside rests are located throughout the facility. Jewish center will host family event
A Spaghetti Western, a family event, will be hosted by the Jewish Community Center 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Orleans hotel.
The event will include dinner, dancing and fun for the family. The committee is seeking items for a child-friendly auction.
Interested individuals and businesses that have an item to donate are asked to call 794-0090.
Community forum scheduled Saturday
"He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" will be the topic of the Southern Nevada Coalition of Concerned Women's community forum to be held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd.
Panelists are Hiliary Shelton, director of the Washington Bureau of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga.; Congresswoman Shelley Berkely, D-Nev.; Shirley Burgess, federal pre-trial services supervisory officer; Deputy District Attorney Gary Booker; Bobby Siller of the state Gaming Control Board; and Gary Peck, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada.

Audubon Society to host event
The Red Rock Audubon Society is sponsoring a field trip to the Muddy River in Moapa Valley 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
Participants are asked to meet at 6 a.m. at the Silver Nugget in North Las Vegas to car pool.
Bring lunch, snacks and water. Car fee $5. For reservations, call 382-2870.
Wetlands trail hike on tap
A Wetlands Trail Hike starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Ranger Station is one of the many events offered at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area .
This is an easy to moderate hike with wildlife viewing opportunities.
Guided hikes and informative talks are offered by tfree at the park's Alan Bible Visitor Center northeast of Boulder City. Reservations are required for the guided hikes. Call 293-8990.
