Peter Benton's golf column appears Wednesday.
The Las Vegas Country Club's premier event of the year -- the annual Men's Member/Guest -- was played last week under absolutely gorgeous weather conditions and on a course in extraordinary shape.
A full field consisting of 75 played a best-ball of partners the first day and combined low net with full handicap the second.
Russ Schroeder and David Foggia were the overall net winners with a score of 197. The low gross championship went to J.P. Oberweis/Bob Christensen with 206. Second spot went to Rob Martinez and Jim Massey, who came in with 216.
Lance Wallin and younger brother Jeff were the winners of the Black Bart Flight. Their score of 198 edged the pairing of Oberweis and Christensen, who came in with 200. At 201 and in third spot was the Rob Martinez/Jim Massey duo.
In the Wyatt Earp Flight, Tim and Sam Powers won with 200. Kurt and Brent Birchler placed second at 202, while Mike Small and Mark Dodson followed with 206.
The team of Bill McKown and Dave Pease won the Doc Holliday flight with 200. Marcus Erling and John Barber followed at 207 while Ron Hansen/Dave Berginer were third with 212.
Tom Page and partner J.D. Dickinson paced the field in the Jesse James Flight, coming in with 202. Mickey Rosenberg and Bob Ben followed at 209 with third spot going to Vern Yamanaka and Larry Hall with 212.
Entry fee is $25. The entry deadline is Oct. 19 and the field will be limited to the first 25 entries.
