Virginia Lee Ashley
Virginia Lee Ashley, 73, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Chicago. A resident for 40 years, she was a casino cashier and hostess.
She is survived by two sons, Barry Janz and Kenneth Gehring; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.
Joanna Clark
Joanna Clark, 58, of Henderson died Friday in Henderson. A homemaker and poet, she was born July 31, 1943, in New York.
She is survived by her husband, James; two sons, Dennis Monaghan of Kentucky and Kevin Monaghan of Hawaii; one daughter, Melissa Cabatu of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Helen S. Dandurand
Helen S. Dandurand, 84, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 13, 1917, in Porter, Minn. A resident for five years, she was a retired nutritionist.
She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Miller and Yvonne Carlson, both of Hopkins, Minn., Sheila Seaman of Las Vegas and Sandra Finley of Blue Diamond; one son, Lawrence Dandurand of Boulder City; three sisters, Mary Marks of Riverside, Calif., Loretta Marino of Cupertino, Calif., and Alice Fields of Waite Park, Minn.; two brothers, Frankie Peppersack of Miltona, Minn., and Edwin Peppersack of Alexandria, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Robert J. Gillespie
Robert J. Gillespie, 63, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. A security officer, he was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Canada.
Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling private arrangements.
Anna Grubbs
Anna Grubbs, 73, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born May 22, 1928, in Indianapolis. A resident for 33 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Vicky Fortune, and one son, Mike Grubbs, both of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Friday in Canyon Ridge Christian Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain Road. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
The family suggests donations to the Nevada SPCA, 4800 W. Dewey Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89118.
Charles 'Stan' Hakes
Charles "Stan" Hakes, 84, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 16, 1917, in Eldred, Pa. A resident for two years, he was a retired supervisor for an oil machinery company and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Marcialyn; three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Hakes of Sun City, Calif., Ellen Wright of West Covina, Calif., and Nancy McLaughlin of Lancaster, Calif.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be in California. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
The Rev. Titus Justice
The Rev. Titus Justice, 52, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 13, 1949, in Honolulu. A resident for six years, he was a pastor.
He is survived by his wife, Glori; two daughters, Reallyn Justice-Solomon of Las Vegas and Charity Rondec of Honolulu; two sons, Jean-Luc Justice and Neil J. Justice, both of Las Vegas; his father, Dewey Keohohina of Honolulu; his mother, Rainbow K. Kahoonei of Westminster, Calif.; seven sisters; four brothers; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Richard E. Nyberg
Richard E. Nyberg, 77, of Las Vegas died Sept. 27 in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Ruth. A lifelong resident, he retired as an SIIS director for the state of Nevada after 31 years and was a World War II Army veteran and prisoner of war.
He is survived by his wife, Lahoma North; two sons, Ronald Nyberg and Greg Nance, and one daughter, Vicki Ervin, all of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 3-5 p.m. Wednesday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Bunkers' Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.
Edith J. Thompson
Edith J. Thompson, 83, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born March 27, 1918, in Brigham, Utah. A resident for 30 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Hannah of Kingman, Ariz., and Elizabeth Jarboe of Las Vegas; two sons, Bill Yates of Phoenix and Glen Yates of Arkansas; two sisters, Darlene Hardesty of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Leoda Evans of Peoria, Ariz.; two brothers, Clifford Evans of Arcadia, Calif., and Arthur Evans of Reno; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.
Joseph J. Sherry
Joseph J. Sherry, 46, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 3, 1954, in Jersey City, N.J. A resident for 13 years, he was a real estate broker and a member of the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors.
He is survived by his companion, Colin Murphy, one daughter, Krystal A. Sherry, and his mother, Irene G. Sherry, all of Las Vegas.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.
The family suggests donations to the Humane Society of Southern Nevada, P.O. Box 82022, Las Vegas, NV 89180-2022.
Dennis J. Sweeney
Dennis J. Sweeney, 43, of Las Vegas died Oct. 4 in a local care center. He was born Sept. 17, 1958, in Seattle. A recent resident, he was a technical engineer for Parker Aerospace in Utah.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Patricia and Patrick Ansboury, and one sister, Janet Dwyer, all of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.
Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling private arrangements.
Ruth A. Weber
Ruth A. Weber, 82, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born Oct. 24, 1918, in Fowlerville, Mich. A resident for 47 years, she was a retired waitress.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Griffith, and one son, Thomas Griffith, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Pat and Helen; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
