Isle of Capri, Argosy get top awards

The top executive at Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. and the board of Argosy Gaming Co. received top awards at the American Gaming Association's Communications Awards luncheon, held Wednesday.
Bernie Goldstein, chief executive of Biloxi-based Isle of Capri, received the award for top performing CEO of the year for his efforts in the development of riverboat gaming throughout the Midwest, particularly his lobbying efforts in the legalization of riverboat casinos in Iowa. The board of Alton, Ill.-based Argosy received the award for top performing board.
The awards are designed to honor effective investor relations, financial communications and customer communications.
The award for best annual report also went to Argosy; MGM MIRAGE received the top award among large-cap gaming companies. The top award for a gaming vendor annual report went to International Game Technology, while the award for a public agency's annual report was shared between the Arizona Lottery and the Casino Owners Association of Colorado.
MGM MIRAGE received the top award for consumer publications with "Supplier Diversity." Sun International Hotels Ltd. of the Bahamas took the awards for best consumer broadcast campaign and best consumer print ad campaign.
