One Tokyo-Vegas flight cut

Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001 | 9:31 a.m.

Japan Airlines, which operates five flights a week between Tokyo and Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport, will cut one of them later this month.

The company announced it is cutting several flights between Asia and the United States due to declining demand.

A spokeswoman for JAL said today it is cutting one Las Vegas flight beginning Oct. 17 because it is reducing service between Asia and the West Coast.

JAL operates a nonstop flight between Tokyo and McCarran, with the return flight stopping in Los Angeles. Under the new schedule, one of the four return flights will stop in San Francisco.

Spokeswoman Irene Jackson said it hasn't been determined what days flights would operate. She said the company plans to determine in November whether it will reinstate the flight in December.
