NEVADA DIVISION OF WILDLIFE

Boaters continue to have fair to good success for striped and largemouth bass on the waters at Lake Mead, while shore anglers are still waiting for the water temperature to cool and for the game fish to move to within casting range.

Early this week anglers were having success in the early morning hours at Boxcar Cove in the Boulder Basin where stripers were breaking the surface. Anglers have been casting top water baits when the fish are on the surface and jigging with Jumping Minnow spoons after the fish have taken to deep water.

Several anglers have told the Nevada Division of Wildlife that they have had success for stripers by trolling deep with downriggers.

Over the weekend largemouth bass were being caught in coves north of Callville Bay and in the Overton Arm. Catfish measuring from 14 to 16 inches have been caught recently with nightcrawlers at FishIsland.

Very few striped bass have been caught in the Willow Beach area during the past week. Stripers ranging from nine to 12 inches continue to be caught from Owl's Point to the narrows above CottonwoodCove.

Anglers who have been fishing at Haymeadow Reservoir have generally been catching nine-inch trout that were stocked last week. Cold Springs Reservoir has produced fair action for rainbows that rangefrom 12 to 14 inches.

Anglers are nowusing Power Bait from shore and boats to catch the fish. Temperatures have been ranging from the mid 80s to lows in the low 30s to high 20s.
