Harvest Jamboree set Saturday at UMC
The Family to Family Connection invites parents and children to the Harvest Jamboree 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at University Medical Center's Family Resource Center, 1120 Shadow Lane.
Information on child safety will be distributed, and Family to Family staff will answer questions and provide safety demonstrations.
Activities for children include Play Dough Playtime with the Lied Discovery Children's Museum and storytime with Steve N' Kids. Children can also have their faces painted and learn safety tips from paramedics.
Light refreshments will be served. Call 383-7058.
Organizations gather for community event
Las Vegas Fire and Rescue units and a Flight For Life helicopter will be on display 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday at the city of Las Vegas Northwest Leisure Center, 3521 N. Durango Road.
People of all ages are invited to attend this free event, which features community organizations, businesses, recreational and sports organizations providing information and product samples.
In addition, health, fitness and wellness organizations will be providing demonstrations, health screenings about their products and services. The purpose of the event is to provide current education and information regarding the many community, recreational, sports, fitness, and health and wellness organizations available throughout Southern Nevada.

North to speak at endowment dinner
Oliver North will speak at the Faith Lutheran Scholarship Endowment Dinner at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Monte Carlo.
North is a combat decorated Marine, best selling author, founder of a small business, inventor who holds three U.S. patents, syndicated columnist, former candidate for the U. S. Senate, host of a nationally syndicated daily radio show and host of MSNBC's "Equal Time."

Faith Lutheran High School is a Christian school teaching students in grades six through 12.
Open house planned at Atlantis Aquarium
High School students with an interest in marine biology, scuba diving or snorkeling are invited to an open house at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Atlantis Aquarium at the Forum Shops at Caesars.
The open house will begin the fall program schedule of Marine Science Explorer Post 634, which helps students learn about ocean and aquatic life through hands-on activities, outings, classes and field trips.
Members of the program, which is open to girls and boys, 14 through 20 years of age, have earned their scuba certification, learned about the ocean's ecosystem and helped operate the Atlantis Aquarium. To RSVP for the program, call Joanne Stuflick at 736-4366.
The sixth annual Oktoberfest
will be held 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Jaycee Park, Eastern and St. Louis avenues, to benefit Lutheran Social Services of Nevada. Call Christine at 639-1730.
