Classic cars featured in charity event
Vintage and classic autos and hot rods will line Henderson's Water Street Thursday through Sunday for the Downtown Henderson Super Run 2001.
The event, which is free, will run 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Thursday with a block party sponsored by Rick's Supper Club and the Henderson Farmers Market. The three-day event includes competitions, cruises, drawings and nightly entertainment.
Awards will be presented 1 p.m. Sunday. All proceeds benefit Henderson charities. For more information, call 565-2181.
Sports, health groups join forces for event
The city of Las Vegas, YMCA of Southern Nevada and Health Projects 2000 is sponsoring a community, health, fitness, recreation, sports and wellness fair 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday at the city of Las Vegas Northwest Leisure Center, 3521 N. Durango Drive.
The event will feature community organizations, businesses, recreational and sports organizations providing information and product samples.
In addition, health, fitness, and wellness organizations will provide demonstrations, health screenings and information about their products and services.

Wine-tasting program planned as fund-raiser
The Golden Monarch Council of the Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation will hold its second annual wine tasting 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday at Gaudin Jaguar/Porsche, 7200 W. Sahara Ave.
The event will feature wine, food and fast cars, which won't leave the showroom. All goods and services are donated, allowing all the funds that are raised to go directly to support the program.

Four-mile walk scheduled on Saturday
The American Cancer Society will present "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer," a noncompetitive four-mile walk 8 a.m. Saturday at Paseo Verde Park in Henderson to fight against breast cancer.
All of the funds raised will be dedicated to American Cancer Society research, education, patient support and advocacy programs.
There is no pre-registration or registration fee for the event. Participants will register on the morning of the event and bring their pledges with them. Organizations or businesses can sponsor their own team of walkers.

Ner Tamid offering eight-week course
Congregation Ner Tamid, 2761 Emerson Ave., is offering an eight-week course in Hebrew. Classes will be held 6:30-7:45 p.m. on Mondays through Nov. 26.
The beginning Hebrew class will teach how to recognize and pronounce the Hebrew alphabet, forming recognizable words and phrases taught by temple member Katherine Scott, a Para-Rabbinic Fellow certified by the Reform Movement.

The members of Sun City Anthem
will sell their wares at the Bi-Annual Sun City Garage Sale from 7 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Del Webb's Sun City Anthem Center parking lot, 2450 Hampton Road, Henderson.
