The Lied Library at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, has received a citation for its architectural design.
American School & University magazine awarded the Louis I. Kahn Citation to the library for its outstanding aesthetics, functionality, and diversity.
The library, designed by the architecture/engineering firm of Leo A. Daly, was one of 253 entries from companies across the nation.
Employees' children receive $1,500
Southwest Gas Corp. and the Laub Foundation awarded three scholarships for the 2001-2002 academic year.
The $1,500 scholarships went to Lindsay DeMaree, Jessica John and Warren Sturgill, who are at Yale University, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the California Polytechnic State University, respectively.
The three students are sons and daughters of Southwest Gas employees. They were honored for their high academic achievement and personal standards.
Bunkers receives national recognition
A Las Vegas funeral home will receive the 2001 National Funeral Directors Association Pursuit of Excellence Continuing Achievement award.
The recognition will honor Bunkers Mortuary for its outstanding service to the community.
The award will be presented to Bunkers Mortuary, and funeral homes in other states, during the national Funeral Directors Associations' 120th Annual Convention & Expo World in Orlando, this month.
