Joseph Berland

Joseph Berland, 84, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local health care center. He was born March 26, 1917, in Kiev, Russia. A resident for 31 years, he was a retired grocery store manager and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Doreen Mladenoff of Alta Loma, Calif.; two sons, Alan Berland of Las Vegas and Elliot Berland of Monrovia, Calif.; one sister, Trudy Field of Van Nuys, Calif.; two brothers, Lew Berland of Las Vegas and Benjamin Berland of San Fernando Valley, Calif.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane. Graveside services will follow at noon Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 1325 E. Harmon Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

Kenneth Meril Caddess

Kenneth Meril Caddess, 62, of North Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 30, 1938, in Texas. A resident for 26 years, he was a service technician and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Jean; one daughter, Donna Caddess of Las Vegas; his mother, Gayle Watkins; and one granddaughter.

Graveside services will be 11:20 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive., is handling arrangements.

Felipe Cernas

Felipe Cernas, 76, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 20, 1925, in Mexico. A resident for one year, he was a retired mason in the construction industry.

He is survived by his wife, Maria; eight sons, Felipe, Efren, Marco, Noe, Bernabe, Mohame, Jacobo and Cuauhtemoc; four daughters, Trine, Maricurz, Alma and Edith; 47 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-8 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

George A. Denniss

George A. Denniss, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Farmington, Conn. A resident for 12 years, he was a design engineer for an electrical company, a member of the Knights of Columbus and was inducted into the Connecticut Duck Pin Bowling Association Hall of Fame as of Nov. 3.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Leona V.; one son, Clifford Denniss, and one daughter, Carole McPhee, and one sister, Dorothy Lindquist, all of Connecticut; one brother, William Denniss of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.

American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling private arrangements.

Edgardo A. 'Pee Wee' Franco

Edgardo A. "Pee Wee" Franco, 40, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 2, 1961, in San Salvador, El Salvador. A resident for 23 years, he was a heavy equipment operator.

He is survived by two sons, Justin Franco and Andrew Franco, his mother, Carmen Franco, and five brothers, Roberto Acosta, Julio Henriquez, Poblo Franco, Wilfredo Franco and Mauricio Franco, all of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Ana Beaver of Las Vegas and Blanca Carranza of El Salvador.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Adam Lee Hall

Adam Lee Hall, 68, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born May 28, 1933, in Middletown, Ohio. A resident for 20 years, he was an owner of a mobile home park and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; three sons, Randy Hall of Columbus, Ohio, Jerry Hall of Germantown, Ohio, and Dominic LaRocco of Henderson; one daughter, Eloise Vallens of Garden Grove, Calif.; and one sister, Eva Latz of Escondido, Calif.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Middletown. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Laura C. King

Laura C. King, 87, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. She was born July 11, 1914, in Virginia. A resident for 11 years, she was a factory worker for a plastics manufacturer and more recently a security officer.

She is survived by one daughter, Candace Kennedy of Long Beach, Calif.; two sons, Thomas Roy Blevins and Robert Sean Blevins; two granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Rose Lawson

Rose Lawson, 100, of Boulder City died Monday in Boulder City. She was born April 14, 1901, in Mason City, Neb. A resident for 70 years, she was a retired clerk in the tourism industry, a charter member of the Boulder City Museum and Historical Association, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebeccas and 31ers.

She is survived by one son, Roy Lawson of Toquerville, Utah; two sisters, Jean Smales of Boulder City and May Estby of Las Vegas; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service date is pending. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Patricia Authureen Lyons

Patricia Authureen Lyons, 67, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born March 7, 1934, in Missouri. A resident for one year, she was an office manager for a security service.

She is survived by four sons, Percy Finney, Lamont Finney, Claude Finney and Michael Finney; three daughters, Debra Pittman, Angely Perry and Christina Chandler; two brothers, John Hicks and James Hicks; three sisters, Alice Oliver, Erma Harvey and Lois Hicks; 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Daniel S. Madrid Sr.

Daniel S. Madrid Sr., 43, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in North Las Vegas. He was born June 3, 1958, in Silver City, N.M. A resident for 17 years, he was a retired casino porter.

He is survived by his wife, Velia; three sons, Daniel S. Madrid Jr. and Adam Madrid, both of Las Vegas, and Erik Madrid of Bayard, N.M.; two daughters, Crystal Madrid and Shannon Madrid, both of North Las Vegas; three brothers, Max Madrid Jr. of Santa Ana, Calif., William Madrid of Las Cruces, N.M., Martin Madrid of Silver City, N.M.; and one sister, Denise Garcia of Santa Clara, N.M.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 3 p.m. Thursday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Michael Miller

Michael Miller, 53, of Las Vegas died Nov. 21 in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 1, 1947, in Nevada. A resident for 14 years, he was a truck driver for a cement company and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Ginger of Henderson; four daughters, Genny Peck, Natlie Miller, Charity Miller and Sarah Miller, all of Las Vegas; three sons, Max Miller, and Wesley Miller and Shane Miller, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Lilly Miller, and one sister, Patreica Fetch, both of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. services Saturday in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.

Herbert Lawrence Morris Jr.

Herbert Lawrence Morris Jr., 54, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born March 18, 1947, in Honolulu. A resident for 16 months, he was a retired heavy equipment operator and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; three daughters, Tammy Teves of Las Vegas and Yvette Vidinha and Sharmayne Gonsalves, both of Kauai, Hawaii; one son, Richard Burgos of Tacoma, Wash.; three sisters, Leslie Morris, Katherine Morris and Charlene Coleman, and his father, Herbert L. Morris Jr., all of Honolulu; and 11 grandchildren.

Bernice Nole

Bernice Nole, 85, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born Aug. 26, 1916, in Cicero, Ill. A resident for 42 years, she was a retired Dunes hotel wardrobe attendant, a World War II Navy veteran and a retired member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 720.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Nole and Pat Nole, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Katherine Fuelster of Apple Valley, Calif.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1111 Michael Way. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Paul J. Pekrul

Paul J. Pekrul, 67, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 30, 1934, in Mount Pleasant, Mich. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired project manager in the aerospace industry, a member of the board of directors of Faith Lutheran Junior-Senior High School and Sun City's Men's 18-Hole Golf Club, Duplicate Bridge Group, Computer Club, Photo Club and Investment Club.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; one son, Jon, one daughter, Susan, and his mother, Betty Pekrul, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 8901 Del Webb Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Jack G. Reeves

Jack G. Reeves, 86, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Latah, Wash. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired Navy warrant officer and World War II veteran who served 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Romeo-Reeves; one daughter, Lynn Nicholls of Spokane, Wash.; one sister, Gloria Before of Waldport, Ore.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Josephine J. Sands

Josephine J. Sands, 62, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born May 10, 1939, in Los Angeles. A resident for 13 years, she worked with conventions.

She is survived by one sister, Evelyn Velasco of Monterey Park, Calif.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. services Thursday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be private.

James Sexton

James Sexton, 52, of Pahrump died Thursday in Pahrump. He was born in California. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired operating engineer, a member of Operating Engineers Local 12 and Tribal Motorcycle Club.

He is survived by two daughters, Jamie Ann Sexton of Pahrump and Bonnie Slater of Oregon; his mother, Gloria Sexton, and one sister, Joann Pillman, both of Pahrump; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today in Pahrump Family Mortuary, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Pahrump Family Mortuary. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Mary Nancy Shields

Mary Nancy Shields, 61, of Las Vegas and Sandy Valley died Saturday in Sandy Valley. She was born Sept. 4, 1940, in American Fork, Utah. A resident for 19 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Guy K.; one son, Kenneth C. Shields, and one daughter, Terri L. Crowley, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Gwen Higley of American Fork; one brother, Clark Higley of Provo, Utah; three sisters, Donna Evans of American Fork, Jean Bushman of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Wilma Fisher of Henderson; and four grandchildren.

Jesse M. Tully

Jesse M. Tully, 54, of Henderson died Nov. 19 in Henderson. He was born June 22, 1947, in Chicago. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired Air Force veteran.

He is survived by one brother, Tom Tully of Sacramento.

Edward Joseph Vieira Jr.

Edward Joseph Vieira Jr., 27, of Riverbank, Calif., died Saturday. He was born April 9, 1980, in Las Vegas. A former Las Vegas resident, he was a concrete laborer for five years.

He is survived by his wife, Brandi Franklin Vieira; one daughter, Kyndle Skye Vieira, and his mother, Candice Maureen Hilton, both of Modesto, Calif.; his father and stepmother, Edward Joseph and Melissa Vieira, and one brother, Justin Edward Vieira of Riverbank; two sisters, Samatha Alicia Ann Vieira of Riverbank and Whitney Camp of Modesto; and his grandmother, Catherine Ann Vieira of Modesto.

Mary Wilson, 98, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born July 1, 1903, in Delhi, La. A resident for seven years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, John T. Wilson of North Las Vegas; three daughters, Dorothy Wilson of Las Vegas, Otha Griffin of Delhi and Thelma Kennedy of Vermont; 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 500 W. Monroe Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Irene Winocoor

Irene Winocoor, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Boston. A resident for 25 years, she was a saleswoman.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis; one daughter, Jeanne Winocoor-Chargois of Los Angeles; one son, David Winocoor of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.
