High school students honored

United Blood Services presented the Clark County School District a proclamation Monday honoring a student blood drive in 2000-2001 that was the largest in Las Vegas.

Eight thousand juniors and seniors donated more than 6,000 pints of blood, making them the largest group supplier of blood for 19 area hospitals.

The students' donation was greater than the combined efforts of Nellis Air Force Base, all nongaming businesses and all religious organizations. High school juniors and seniors also exceeded the efforts of the 200,000-plus hotel industry employees.
