Linda Frohlich continues her bid to become the leading scorer in UNLV women's basketball history this weekend when the Lady Rebels host the Cox Communications/Lady Rebels Shootout at Cox Pavilion.
UNLV (2-0) hosts winless Sacramento State (0-3) in the opening round of the tournament on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Defending Ohio Valley Conference champ Tennessee Tech plays Seton Hall in the 5 p.m. opener.
The tournament concludes on Sunday. UNLV will play in the second game at 4:30 p.m. for either the championship or the consolation title depending on Saturday's outcome. The other game will start at 2 p.m.
The 6-foot-3 Frohlich needs just 97 points to break UNLV's all-time scoring record of 1,892 points held by former All-American Misty Thomas.
These will be UNLV's last home games for more than three weeks. The Lady Rebels travel to Berkeley, Calif., next weekend where they face 16th-ranked Georgia in the first round of the Cal-Berkeley Tournament. They follow that with road games at Nevada-Reno (Dec. 9) and the University of San Francisco (Dec. 15) before returning home on Dec. 18 to host Eastern Washington.
