Lucille J. Apodaca

Lucille J. Apodaca, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born May 29, 1924, in Algadones, N.M. A resident for 59 years, she was a homemaker, a member of Sweet Adelines and Golden Girls.

She is survived by her husband, Mike C.; two sons, Michael Apodaca Jr. of Albuquerque and Steve E. Apodaca of Las Vegas; one daughter, Elizabeth J. Purcell, and four brothers, Earl Jaramillo, George Jaramillo, Joseph Jaramillo and Ray Jaramillo, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Priscilla Simpson of Camarillo, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 90 minutes prior to 6:30 p.m. servics today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Graveside services will follow at Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Fred L. Brown

Fred L. Brown, 64, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born July 8, 1937, in Lake Village, Ark. A resident for 28 years, he was a retired plant supervisor for a linen cleaning company.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; five daughters, Mona Harris and Edith Brown, both of West Covina, Calif., and Gail Brown, Feleshia Wade and Shonikia Wade, all of Las Vegas; two sons, Fred Brown Jr. of Moreno Valley, Calif., and Reginald Brown of West Covina; his mother, Josephine Giffin of Los Angeles; three sisters, Geriba Dixon, Barbara Stewart and Gloria Shelby, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Gerald Griffin of Los Angeles and Howard Brown of Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Memorial Park.

Richard Brown

Richard Brown, 30, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. A resident for seven months, he was born Nov. 13, 1971, in Salt Lake City.

He is survived by his wife, Brianne; one son, Ashton Brown of Las Vegas; his father, Richard Brown of Ogden, Utah; one sister, Melissa Brown, and one half-brother, Brian Brown, both of Utah.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Utah. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Christopher Lance Carson

Christopher Lance Carson, 23, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 11, 1977, in Las Vegas. He was a member of Opportunity Village's Project PRIDE and a former student of John F. Miller Elementary School.

He is survived by his parents, Lynda and Jon Carson, and two brothers, Jon Carson Jr. and Brent Carson, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Friday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Vada L. Chapman

Vada L. Chapman, 74, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Dec. 20, 1926, in Arkansas. A resident for nine years, she was a retired electrical assembler for a manufacturing firm.

She is survived by her husband, Paul T.; two daughters, Rena Andrews of Las Vegas and Joyce Urbach of Torrance, Calif.; one son, Paul T. Chapman Jr. of Fresno, Calif.; her mother, Lilla Wagner, and one sister, Rena Knight, both of Hemet, Calif.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Valerie Renne Cherry

Valerie Renee Cherry, 40, of Las Vegas died Sunday in North Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 19, 1960, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a court clerk for the city of Las Vegas.

She is survived by one son, Alexander Jackson, her mother, Vera Cherry, four sisters, Beverly Cherry, Tammie Cherry, Zsa Zsa Beals and Pamela Cherry, and one brother, Pamela Cherry, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 1-5 p.m. Sunday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Zion Methodist Church, 2108 N. Revere St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Cooper

Mary Elizabeth Cooper, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 28, 1921, in Frederick, S.D. A resident for six years, she was a homemaker, past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the Social Order of the Beauceant and Ladies of the Ribbon, past high priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and a member of Daughters of MoKanna.

She is survived by her husband, Robert E.; and one brother, Dale A. Jensen of San Antonio.

Visitation is scheduled 9-11 a.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be private.

Jean Marie Corbridge

Jean Marie Corbridge, 71, of Henderson died Monday in Delta, Utah. She was born Jan. 12, 1930, in Omaha, Neb. A resident for 43 years, she was a homemaker and was involved with the Cub Scouts for more than 20 years.

She is survived by her husband, Keith E.; three daughters, Rosanne Tennant and Jeani Corbridge, both of Henderson, and Tamma Nutting of Pocatello, Idaho; three sons, Lonnie Corbridge of Boise, Idaho, Jerry Corbridge of Henderson and Eddy Corbridge of Fillmore, Utah; two sisters, Maryanne Hagar of Las Vegas and Vickie Anderst of Pocatello; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Friday in the LDS Ocean Street chapel, Henderson. Graveside services will be private. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Harry DeBaby

Harry DeBaby, 78, of Pahrump died Sunday in a local care center. He was born July 8, 1923, in Greece. A resident for five years, he was a retired electrician, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and Electricians Local 349 in Miami.

He is survived by his wife, Carmela; one daughter, Linda Pryor of Las Vegas; one son, Harry Robert DeBaby of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two brothers, James DeBaby of Lake Worth, Fla., and Nick DeBaby of Tallahassee, Fla.; and one grandchild.

Visitation is private. Services will be noon Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Lupe DeTavis

Lupe DeTavis, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 23, 1922, in Logan, N.M. A resident for 59 years, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Viator's Women's Guild.

She is survived by three daughters; two sons; one brother; two sisters; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. service in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Marsha A. France

Marsha A. France, 58, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 8, 1943, in Holyoke, Mass. A resident for 18 years, she was a retired dental hygienist and a member of the Southern Nevada Dental Hygienist Association.

She is survived by her husband, James; one daughter, Renee France of Portland, Ore.; one son, Captain Derek France, and her mother, Anna Ayres, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Christine Ashley of Grants, N.M.; one brother, Dr. Randall Ayres of San Diego; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5 p.m. until a 7 p.m. prayer service Friday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Christ the King Catholic Church. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Madelaine E. Garrett

Madelaine E. Garrett, 92, of Boulder City died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 6, 1909, in Audubon, Iowa. A resident for 59 years, she was a retired music teacher, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Philanthropic Educational Organization.

She is survived by one sister, Carol Godbey of Boulder City.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Faith Christian Church, Boulder City. Burial will follow in Palm Mausoleum. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Allan Grinnell

Allan Grinnell, 71, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 13, 1930, in Michigan. A resident for seven years, he was an electrician.

He is survived by one son, Roger Grinnell of Henderson; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service was scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Burial was scheduled in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Ruth M. Lott

Ruth M. Lott, 66, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born April 24, 1935, in Lander, Wyo. A resident for 15 years, she was a presser for a laundry and dry cleaning business.

She is survived by one daughter, Sheryl Howard of Las Vegas; two sons, R.J. Lott of Las Vegas and John Lott of Anchorage, Alaska; one brother, Duncan Ferguson of Las Vegas; two sisters, Bessie Shipman of Casper, Wyo., and Alma Heinrichs of Bakersfield, Calif.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Melvin C. Mazon

Melvin C. Mazon, 65, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 14, 1936, in Youngstown, Pa. A resident for 52 years, he was a taxi driver.

He is survived by his wife, Lorna; one son, Jeffrey Mazon, and one daughter, Pamela Harris, both of Las Vegas; his parents, James and Helen Slaughter of Vacaville, Calif.; one brother, James Slaughter Jr. of Dixon, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Betty Melnick

Betty Melnick, 89, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 1, 1912, in Lutz, Russia. A resident for 13 years, she was a homemaker and a member of Skokie Valley Traditional Synagogue Sisterhood.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jack Melnick.

She is survived by two daughters, Maureen DiPietero-Quimby and Lolly Melnick-Siciliano, and one son, Barry Melnick, all of Henderson; one sister, Rose Segal of Northbrook, Ill.; one brother, Jerry Weiner of Kingspoint, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane.

Charles Elmer Mongeon Sr.

Charles Elmer Mongeon Sr., 66, of Pahrump died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born Feb. 27, 1935, in California. A resident for 25 years, he was a mechanic.

He is survived by two sons, Charles E. Mongeon Jr. and Ronald L. Mongeon; two brothers, Clarence Mongeon and Donald Mongeon; and two grandchildren.

Maude M. Noe

Maude M. Noe, 91, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 30, 1910, in Missouri. A resident for many years, she was a restaurant owner.

She is survived two sisters, Hazel Perry of Las Vegas and Dorothy Brandenburg of Michigan; one brother, Hershel Cox of Michigan; and two grandchildren.

Russell Odman

Russell Odman, 67, of Boulder City died Sept. 25 in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 20, 1933, in Illinois. A resident for many years, he was a laborer, an Air Force veteran and an aviation cadet.

He is survived by his longtime friends, Robert and Jean Neard of Nevada.

Eric J. Olson

Eric J. Olson, 33, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 31, 1968, in Evergreen Park, Ill. A resident for 11 years, he was disabled, a member of Down Syndrome Association of Southern Nevada and Lupus Foundation of Southern Nevada.

He is survived by his parents, Jim and Deanne Olson of Las Vegas; one sister, Shirley Ozio of Dayton, Ohio; and one brother, Carl Olson of Colorado Springs, Colo.

J.D. Porter, 82, of Boulder City died Sunday in a local care center. He was born June 20, 1919, in Kansas City, Mo. A resident for 53 years, he was a retired automobile salesman.

Herbie Simmons

Herbie Simmons, 62, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born May 15, 1939, in Pampa, Texas. A resident for 17 years, he was a retired computer programmer at a bank.

He is survived by one daughter, Carri Roman of Fort Springs, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Stephanie Mustachia of Houston; one stepson, Brian Schindler of Pasadena, Calif.; his mother, Bonnie Simmons of Waxahachie, Texas; one sister, Shirley Spain of Hallsville, Texas; one brother, Ronald Simmons of Kingwood, Texas; and two grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Roy Towns; one daughter, Joyce Foss; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Shirley A. Wampler

Shirley A. Wampler, 64, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born July 21, 1937, in Dayton, Ohio. A resident for 21 years, she was a restaurant hostess and cashier and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Sr.; three sons, Richard Wampler Jr., Timothy L. Wampler, and Adam S. Wampler, all of Las Vegas, and Christopher A. Wampler of Texas; one daughter, Victoria D. Nge of Las Vegas; three brothers, Rolland E. Price of Mississippi, James L. Price of Ohio and Joseph Price Jr. of Florida; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. Friday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Francis Willenburg

Francis Willenburg, 90, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born July 11, 1911, in Carroll, Iowa. A resident for 25 years, he was a business owner.

He is survived by two stepdaughters, Deanne Deau and Marcia Bishop, and one stepson, Frank Davenport, all of Las Vegas.
