Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001 | 9:05 a.m.

NEVADA DIVISION OF WILDLIFE

Boaters in Lake Mead continue to have sporadic success for striped bass in the Boulder Basin while the largemouth bass fishing has been good throughout the lake during the past week.

On Sunday, Nevada Division of Wildlife (NDOW) creel census clerks checked a large number of stripers at Las Vegas Bay Marina that weighed from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 pounds. Those fish were caught in Las Vegas Bay by boaters who were drifting and trolling with anchovies.

Bank fishing has been fair for stripers in recent days at Boxcar Cove and from south side of the causeway near Lake Mead Marina. Some action for stripers has also been reported at Hemenway Harbor and 33 Hole.

Anglers who have been fishing in the Overton Arm have generally been disappointed as they have only been catching very small stripers. However, early Saturday morning NDOW creel clerks checked a stringer of 10 black crappie that were caught in the Virgin Bowl.

Largemouth bass are being caught in coves with some of the better action being found in the Overton Arm. On Sunday an angler caught three bass that weighed from four to five pounds near Boxcar Cove in the Boulder Basin.

Largemouth bass are being caught in coves above Cottonwood while rainbow trout are being caught following plants at Willow Beach. This week's plant at Willow Beach is scheduled for today.
