Children can learn a lot from hikes

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers hikes, walks and other educational programs free of charge, but reservations are required for all programs, which begin at the Visitors Center. To make reservations or for information call 363-1922. Some upcoming programs:

Moenkopi Kids Hike: A 1 1/2 mile hike for ages 7 to adult to learn all about bighorn sheep, Wednesday.

Predator and Prey: An easy family hike on the Moenkopi trail. There will be a discussion on all sights you see, Saturday.

The Wild Bunch: A 20-minute slide presentation on the world of carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores for the family, Saturday.

Clinics are offering public vaccinations

The Clark County Health District is offering to the public flu shots that initially were reserved for members of high risk groups.

People eligible for free vaccinations must present an insurance card or current Medicare or Medicaid card. For all others the cost of the vaccinations are $15 for flu and $20 for pneumonia.

These clinics will be offering the vaccinations Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.:

Ravenholt Public Health Center, 625 Shadow Lane; East Las Vegas Public Health Center, 560 N. Nellis Blvd.; Henderson Public Health Center, 129 W. Lake Mead Drive; North Las Vegas Public Health Center, 1820 E. Lake Mead Blvd.
