Herschel Auerbach

Herschel Auerbach, 83, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born June 3, 1918, in New York City. A resident for six years, he was a retired cemeterian, a World War II Army veteran, past president of American Cemetery Association, Illinois Cemetery Association, Zionist Organization of Chicago, Zionist Organization of America, a member of B'nai B'rith International, Jewish War Veterans, Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, National Council of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee and General Council of the World Zionist Organization, chairman of Community Relations Council of Jewish Federation of Las Vegas, national honorary vice president of Zionist Organization, treasurer of Board of Governors of the Greater Chicago Committee for State of Israel Bonds, past national chairman of the Soviet Jewry Committee of the ZOA, truste e of the United Israel Appeal, delegate to the 29th and 30th World Zionist Congress in Jerusalem and national chairman of I! srael Projects of the ZOA.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, Mark Auerbach of Lake Forest, Calif., and Leonard Auerbach of Orinda, Calif.; one sister, Adah Lappin of Netanya, Israel; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane.

Alfred Becker

Alfred Becker, 72, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 19, 1928, in New York. A resident for many years, he was an inspector.

He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Woodworth of Lindenhurst, N.Y.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Calverton, N.Y. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Helen Ciliberti

Helen Ciliberti, 89, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born March 29, 1912, in Joplin, Mo. A resident for 41 years, she was a retired apartment manager.

She is survived by two daughters, Twyla Windsor and Bette Slatoff, and one son, Bob Allen, all of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Queen E. Daniels

Queen E. Daniels, 59, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born July 2, 1942, in Baton Rouge, La. A resident for 29 years, she was a hotel PBX operator.

She is survived by two daughters, Babra Daniels and April Daniels, and one son, Dennis Daniels, all of Las Vegas; her mother, Eva May Joe, and two brothers, Christopher Joe and Don Joe, all of Louisiana; two sisters, Clara Davison of North Las Vegas, Dorothy Robinson of Ohio and Joanne McKnight of Louisiana; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Metro Baptist Church, 2200 E. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will be private. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Le Roy Andrew Dutton

Le Roy Andrew Dutton, 85, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born in West Virginia. He was a retired sheet metal worker for Chrysler Corp. and American Motors, a Marine Corps veteran who was a Purple Heart recipient, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Purple Heart Club.

He is survived by one son, Le Roy D. Dutton of Ontario, Calif.; two brothers, Daniel Dutton of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., and Robert Dutton of Florida; one sister, Harriet Harvey of Gurnee, Ill.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. McWane Family Funeral Home, Hemet, Calif., is handling arrangements.

Terrance Richard Faust

Terrance Richard Faust, 53, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. A state of Nevada corrections officer for 22 years and a veteran of the Nevada National Guard, he was born Aug. 9, 1948, in Orange, Calif.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen; two daughters, Shawn Cotner of Las Vegas and Jennifer Cotner of Reno; one son, David Cotner of Reno; two sisters, Patty F. Corhn of Las Vegas and Margaret Faust of Lakewood, Calif.; and one brother, Timothy E. Faust of Dayton.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

June Fradella

June Fradella, 72, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Laughlin. She was born July 6, 1929, in California. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, William of San Clemente, Calif.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in San Clemente. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Peggy Hixson

Peggy Hixson, 92, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 18, 1909, in Jackson, Tenn. A resident for nine years, she was a retired department store buyer.

She is survived by her husband, Albert; three daughters, Gayle Boland of Las Vegas, Patricia Coontz of Medina, Ohio, and Vicki S. O'Gara of Hailey, Idaho; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be arranged by Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

William Scott Jewett

William Scott Jewett, 53, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a California hospital. He was born Nov. 9, 1948, in Richland, Wash. A resident for many years, he was a business manager and union organizer for the Insulators Union.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Mizzoni; two daughters, Jennifer Brackett and Tina Jewett, and one sister, Patricia Jewett, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, John Jewett of Boston and Richard Jewett of Concrete, Wash.; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Ashley Lerz

Ashley Lerz, 6, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 22, 1995, in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her mother, Shari White-Lerz, her father, Harold Lerz Jr. two sisters, Alexis Lerz and Amanda Lerz, and her grandparents, Karen White and Alice and Harold Lerz Sr., all of Las Vegas.

George Douglas Mattoon

George Douglas Mattoon, 65, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 2, 1936. A resident for 12 years, he was a health care worker, an Army veteran and member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

He is survived by one daughter, Tennia A. Boyland; and two grandsons.

Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in the LDS chapel at Tropicana and Burnham avenues. A memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Triangle Club, 4600 S. Nellis Blvd. Valley Memorial Crematory, 4855 W. Desert Inn Road, is handling arrangements.

Angelina M. Mengrossi

Angelina M. Mengrossi, 82, of Las Vegas, died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born March 19, 1919, in Rossiter, Pa. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker, past officer of Rosary and Altar Society in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and a former member of the Century Club in Niagara Falls.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Mauro of Henderson and Carol Rizzo of Phoenix; one sister, Viola Torlasio of Niagara Falls; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Jose Montoya

Jose Montoya, 71, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born April 13, 1930, in Peralta, N.M. A resident for 22 years, he was a driver for a moving and storage company and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Anastacia Gallegos; two sons, Lester Montoya of Las Vegas and Christopher Montoya of Kansas City, Mo.; six daughters, Carleen Feurer of Kansas City, Gloria Thomas of Los Angeles, Senny Acosta of Inglewood, Calif., Elsie Curuz of Hawthorne, Calif., Della Esquvel of Porterville, Calif., and Cecilia Mullens of Las Vegas; two brothers, Eloy Sato and Sonny Sato, both of Albuquerque; 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Pearl Palmieri

Pearl Palmieri, 62, of Las Vegas died Oct. 27 in Las Vegas. She was born May 11, 1939, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for seven years, she retired from Citibank after 28 years, was vice president of Deaf Senior Citizens of Las Vegas and a member of the Silver Bells.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; one daughter, Lori Griggs; one son, Mitchell Cushing; her mother, Gert Hershman; one sister, Michele Kass; and four grandchildren.

Services will be in New Jersey. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Mary Margaret Plonsky

Mary Margaret Plonsky, 74, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. She was born March 6, 1927, in Utah. A resident for many years, she was a researcher.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters, Laurie Rawson of Palm Desert, Calif., and Julie Robarge of Honolulu; one brother, John Hooper of Oregon; one sister, Virginia Vadset of Washington state; and four grandchildren.

Inge Ronka

Inge Ronka, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 14, 1920, in Copenhagen, Denmark. A resident for 41 years, she was a retired Delta Airline employee.

She is survived by three daughters, Lyda Owen of Las Vegas, Evy Wilson of Addison, Texas, and Alice Allen of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Herbert Silverman

Herbert Silverman, 78, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 4, 1923, in New York City. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired office furniture store owner, past president of the Sun City chapter of City of Hope, a member of Sun City Glass Club and Sun City Cribbage Club.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; two sons, Howard Silverman of Las Vegas and Mark Silverman of Salinas, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. Sunday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane.

Alberta A. Smith, 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 20, 1918, in Lorimor, Iowa. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Hahn and Sheryl Grabo, both of Las Vegas; one son, Norman Smith of Show Low, Ariz.; one sister, Edna Painter of Yuma, Ariz.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
