2,000 holiday meals planned

Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada is calling for food donations to help feed the homeless and needy families during the holiday season.

The organization's Lied Dining Room at St. Vincent Plaza plans to serve more than 2,000 meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. But for the first time in five years it has run out of turkeys.

Individuals willing to donate a turkey should call the organization at 385-7801.

During the holiday, Catholic Charities will also collect food through a partnership with Tim Boals Comic Oasis.

People bringing a can or box of food to one of the bookstore's locations this month will receive a free comic book.

Tim Boals Comic Oasis has one location at 4250 S. Rainbow, Suite 1003 and another at 3150 N. Rainbow in the Wal-Mart Shopping Center.

The stores are open every day from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm.

Attorneys urged to contribute

The law firm of John Peter Lee, Ltd. is asking other law firms to help collect canned food for the Las Vegas Food Bank.

Law firms willing to participate should collect non-perishable food and drop it off at the offices of John Peter Lee Ltd., at 830 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

They can also make arrangements to have the food picked up at their offices.
