Turn in your last pack of smokes
Sammy's Woodfried Pizza is offering a free pizza to everyone who comes in Thursday with their last pack of cigarettes and signs a pledge to quit smoking.
The event, from 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Thursday, is in recognition of the Great American Smokeout and sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
The free pizzas are available at any of Sammy's three locations: 6500 W. Sahara Ave., 3900 Paradise Road and 4300 E. Sunset Road, Henderson.
UMC sponsors information session
University Medical Center is sponsoring a tobacco-use seminar 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Family Resource Center at UMC, 1120 Shadow Lane, to mark the 25th anniversary of the American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout.
Topics include physical dependency issues, free screenings of carbon monoxide levels, nicotine dependence counseling and improving the quality of life for lung cancer patients.

Free concert set at Hard Rock
KKLZ 96.3-FM, the Hard Rock Cafe, Nevada Beverage and Budweiser will sponsor a free, benefit concert at 10 p.m. Friday at the Hard Rock Cafe.
The event ends a four-day food drive for the Community Food Bank and Catholic Charities. Non-perishable food items and cash donations will be collected at the concert.

Arts in Community funds to be awarded
Clark County Commission Chairman Dario Hererra will present the recipients of the 2001 Arts in the Community-Family Unity fund-raising event with their benefit checks Thursday.
The ceremony will take place 2 p.m. at the Sawyer State Office Building, room 4400.
Created last year to raise awareness for peace and unity in Southern Nevada communities and to collect money for local nonprofit organizations, the Arts in the Community-Family of Unity festival attracted 4,000 people in September.
The recipients of this year's proceeds are Child Haven, which provides shelter and care for abused, abandoned and neglected children; Clark County Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund; the Southern Nevada Area Health & Education Center and the Nevada Domestic Violence Prevention Council.

Motorcycle run to gather toys
Nevada's second annual Just 4 Kids Motorcycle Toy Run to benefit underprivileged children will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Buffalo Bill's in Primm and end at Sam's Town for a barbecue.
Each motorcyclist must donate one new unwrapped toy, stuffed animal or game and pay a $15 registration fee.

Drive-through event planned at park
The Gift of Lights, a drive-through holiday light program, will be held 5-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday through Dec. 26 at Sunset Park.
Admission is $10 per vehicle or $8 plus a bag of "gently used clothing" donated to Goodwill Industries. Partial proceeds will go to Clark County Department of Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund for Disadvantaged Children.

Henderson to host derby on Saturday
The city of Henderson will host its 10th annual youth fishing derby 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Wells Outdoor Pool, 1629 Moser Drive.
The pool will be stocked with trout for the event. Participants, ages 3-16, will be taught how to fish and will compete for several prizes.

The 21st annual Turkey Trot
