Letter: Thrill ride at Stratosphere would aid city
Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001 | 9:02 a.m.
We attended a neighborhood meeting recently at the John Fremont Middle School.
Richard Brown, the operating manager of the Stratosphere, was there to answer questions and give answers to the attendees, which consisted of homeowners and people who live in the area concerning the proposed thrill ride the Stratosphere wants to erect.
We are still amazed at the display of anger and just bad manners that was exhibited toward Mr. Brown that evening.
We were there to hear about the noise level, the traffic and the aesthetics that this ride might possibly incur. Mr. Brown told of the studies that have been made pertaining to these topics, and yet folks just couldn't get it through their heads that these studies have really been made and it would not affect their lives, except to bring visitors and guests to Las Vegas, more jobs and certainly tax money, which would be beneficial to this city.
More noise is irradiated twice weekly by the sanitation trucks and the sirens of ambulances, etc.
Incidentally Stratosphere, thank you for the wonderful display of fireworks yearly. We sit in the back yard and enjoy.
