St. Rose Dominican Hospital announced today plans to build a $190 million hospital on the southwest side of the Las Vegas Valley.
The five-story, 200-bed hospital will be the third Las Vegas-area hospital in the St. Rose Dominican chain. The other two are in Henderson.
Located on Warm Springs Road between Buffalo and Durango Drives, construction is set to begin on the new hospital next year, with an opening set for 2004. The hospital and an attached medical building will be funded with cash flow from existing hospital operations, fundraising and long-term financing, St. Rose Dominican said.
Though there's little development in the area of the proposed hospital now, the state's demographer has estimated 700,000 people will live within 10 miles of the new hospital by 2010.
St. Rose Dominican Hospital is part of the non-profit Catholic Healthcare West chain, which operates 46 hospitals in California, Arizona and Nevada.
