Letter: Screeners must be well-trained

Regarding the current and ongoing debate concerning whether this country's airport security operations should be contracted out to private companies or federalized: To my way of thinking it really doesn't matter. What is important is that the system employ only the most competent (and thoroughly trained) personnel.
Who cares whether they are employees of the federal government or on the payroll of a private company! It might be well for the decision makers to focus on the issues of competency and training necessary for the job at hand.
