The health program, St. Rose English and Hispanic Diabetes Information Highway, will be held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in the MacDonald Conference Room at the Siena campus of St. Rose Dominican Hospital, 3001 St. Rose Parkway, Henderson.
The free event will include information on eye disease, foot care, diet information, blood sugar checks, blood pressure screenings and samples of sugar free snacks.
Various representatives will be displaying the latest in sugar monitors. To register, call Dorothy Stade at 616-4327.
Four Seasons to host annual benefit
The Four Seasons hotel will host its second annual Terry Fox 5K Run and Fun Walk 8 a.m. Sunday at Sun City Anthem, Henderson.
The $15 registration fee includes a breakfast buffet, prizes and drawings for participants and a commemorative Terry Fox T-shirt.
All proceeds benefit the UNLV Cancer Institute. For more information or reservations, call 632-5164.
Diabetes Association honors a special animal
The American Diabetes Association will present its annual "Kiss-A-Pig" fund-raiser at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Galleria at Sunset.
The free event honors the pig for its life-saving role as the first discovered source of insulin, a hormone needed to save the lives of millions of people with diabetes.

Open house spotlights facility's many services
The Henderson Animal Shelter will host an open house 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the shelter, 390 W. Athens Ave.
Animal shelters offer many services to assist animals and people alike: controlling dogs running at large, rescuing injured animals, returning lost pets to their owners, and adopting animals into new, loving homes.
Visitors are encouraged to help by donating needed supplies, volunteering time at the shelter or at one of the shelter's special events, reporting animal cruelty and neglect in the community, or by choosing a pet from among the many animals being cared for at the shelter.

The Poker Palace
is hosting "Festival de America," a community block party featuring food, vendor booths, entertainment by Latin Vida, Casa Blanca and La Zorro, 6 p.m.-midnight Saturday at 2757 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Admission is $5; $2 for children ages 5-12; children ages 4 and younger are free. Call 895-6926.
The Purina Cat Chow's
"Way of Life" mobile cat tour featuring free cat demonstrations and an adopt-a-thon will be presented 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday at the Galleria at Sunset in Henderson. Call 434-0202.
To take part in a Veteran's Day program,
a complimentary lunch will be offered to all veterans with honorable discharge papers, a VA card, VFW or DD214 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday by the McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant, 335 Hughes Center Dr.
