Woman shot in neck during home invasion

A 22-year-old woman was shot in the neck Tuesday night after three intruders broke into her home.

The woman's mother answered the door to the home, in the area of Hollywood Boulevard and Stewart Avenue, about 10 p.m. Tuesday. The woman saw one man standing outside and opened the door. Two men and a woman then forced their way in, Metro Police said.

The woman was taken into a bedroom and left there by the trio. The house was being ransacked when the 22-year-old woman came out of another bedroom.

She apparently didn't know that the suspects had broken into the house, police said.

The 22-year-old woman opened the door and saw a masked man holding a rifle. The man fired the weapon, hitting her in the neck. She was listed in critical condition this morning in the University Medical Center.

The three robbers fled the house. No suspects have been identified.
