Retailer returns to Vegas

Building materials supplier 84 Lumber Co. is re-entering the Las Vegas market with its acquisition of a Payless Cashways store at 4330 South Decatur Blvd.
The store is one of 15 nationwide that 84 Lumber is buying from the bankrupt Payless Cashways for a total of more than $24 million. Payless closed its three other Las Vegas area stores in July.
Randy VanKirk, 84's vice president of marketing and advertising, said the company used to have two retail stores in the Las Vegas area but closed these in the late 1980s because "the retail cash-and-carry market wasn't favorable then."
