Gaming firm sues employee over e-mail

Monday, Nov. 5, 2001 | 9:36 a.m.

Alliance Gaming Corp.'s Bally Gaming of Las Vegas sued to stop an employee from sending harassing electronic mail on the company e-mail system to another employee.

The employee, whose name wasn't revealed in the lawsuit, was accused of violating Bally Gaming's e-mail policy by sending "anonymous, unwarranted and unsolicited" e-mails to another employee on Sept. 26 and 27 and Oct. 10.

Bally Gaming said it took action after receiving complaints from the recipient who allegedly was "intimidated and harassed," and made to feel "apprehensive and uncomfortable" because of the e-mails.

William Cooper, Bally's attorney, declined to reveal the identity of the defendant or the content of the e-mails. "It's up to Bally's now how it wants to proceed against this person."
