Internet gambling targeted

WASHINGTON -- The House Financial Services Committee has approved a bill that would provide another tool to stop Internet gambling.
The measure would attempt to make it impossible for gamblers to pay for their bets or collect payments from the sites by prohibiting illegal Internet gambling operations from accepting credit cards, electronic transfers or other bank instruments as payment.
Exactly what an illegal site is could be clarified by a separate bill, expected to be introduced today by Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va.
