IRS will help solve those issues
Problem Solving Day will be held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday in the Las Vegas IRS office, 4750 W. Oakey Blvd.
This is a day for taxpayers who need help, especially for those who need to resolve federal tax issues and can't take advantage of the problem-solving service during the week.
Taxpayers or their representatives can meet individually with IRS experts dedicated to resolving longstanding problems. IRS decision-makers will be on-site to expedite solutions.
Taxpayers are encouraged to schedule their appointments for the event by calling (800) 829-1040.
Awards will be given at luncheon
The 10th annual Southern Nevada Philanthropy Day awards luncheon will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bally's as part of National Philanthropy Day.
Paula Francis, the Laub Family, William Moore, the Las Vegas Rotary, Barrick Gold Mine Corp. and Laura Fritz, will be the key honorees at the event.
Tickets are $50 and can be purchased by calling Helen Clougherty at 651-7305.
Orientation set for Saturday
The League of Women Voters will hold an orientation meeting 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the in the multipurpose room at the Las Vegas Library, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Longtime members will give examples of how to take action and make changes in the community. A continental breakfast will be served.

NCCJ to host event at Stardust
The National Conference for Community and Justice in Southern Nevada will hold its Mayors Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the Stardust hotel.
The breakfast will feature NCCJ national board president and former ambassador James A. Joseph as the keynote speaker.
Other speakers will be Mayors Oscar Goodman of Las Vegas, Michael Montandon of North Las Vegas, Jim Gibson of Henderson and Robert Ferraro of Boulder City and County Commission Chairman Dario Herrera.

Annual fair set at county center
In celebration of National Adoption Awareness Month, families, parent groups, agencies and child advocates will host the fifth annual Adoption Fair 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the County Government Center, 500 Grand Central Parkway.
The Adoption Fair hopes to unite many waiting children with permanent, adoptive families. The event will feature games, special entertainment and educational workshops and prizes.
Durango High School
will present "Culturefest 2001" noon-4 p.m. Saturday in the school's courtyard, 7100 W. Dewey Drive. The event will benefit Durango's performing arts and student organizations. Call 799-5850.
