SUN CAPITAL BUREAU
CARSON CITY -- It might be a mushroom cloud, a Geiger counter or some other symbol of Nevada's atomic past.
But one thing is certain. It will be on a license plate.
The Assembly reversed course Wednesday and approved a Senate amendment that revived plans for three special license plates.
Previously, the Assembly voted 23-19 on a proposed plate to recognize the Nevada Test Site and voted 21-21 on a plate to preserve federal lands. Both votes required 28 votes to pass.
The Assembly agreed to a Senate amendment on Assembly Bill 643 that put the atomic plate, the federal lands plate and an antique truck plate back into play.
Since the amendment was a voice vote only, there was no record of who voted against the amendment. Assemblyman Doug Bache, D-Las Vegas, was the only lawmaker who requested his no vote be recorded.
Wednesday's action created the ninth special license plate of the session.
