Volunteers needed for work on trails
Volunteers are needed for a morning of work and afternoon trail adventures to celebrate National Trails Day Sunday at the old ranger station at Cold Creek.
The area of the Spring Mountains is on the Cold Creek Road off U.S. 95, about 30 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
Volunteers will be installing signs directing users to several scenic trails in the area from 9 a.m.-noon. They will clean up the area, install registration boxes and repair a fence. Work gloves and boots are recommended. A complimentary lunch at noon will be followed by recognition of the event organizers.

Motorcycle ride planned on Sunday
A motorcycle ride that will benefit the Injured Police Officers Fund will begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at Las Vegas Harley-Davidson, 2605 S. Eastern Ave. The ride is also the inaugural event to start a Fire Rescue Fund, which will help injured fire and rescue personnel.
The ride will depart at 11 a.m. from 2605 S. Eastern Ave. and end at Tommy Rockers Cantina and Grill, 4275 S. Industrial Road, with entertainment, raffle prizes food and beverages.
Pre-registration, which ends today, is $10 for one rider and $15 for a rider and passenger. Beginning Friday, the registration cost is $15 for one rider and $20 for a rider and passenger. The kickoff breakfast at Harley-Davidson is $4. For more information, call 431-8500.
'Third Rock' exec will visit Sunrise
Emmy-award winning comedy writer Jim O'Doherty, co-producer of NBC's "Third Rock from the Sun," will bring his humor to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center's Cancer Survivors Day Celebration at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Sunrise Hospital auditorium, 3186 S. Maryland Parkway.
The event will include special displays, door prizes and refreshments and will feature Sunrise oncologists Dr. Ed Kingsley, an accomplished musician, and Dr. Arnold Wax, who will service as emcee. RSVP by calling 731-8788.
Habitat, HELP to benefit from event
The Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors will hold its 13th annual "Walk-a-thon" beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday at Del Webb's Sun City Anthem.
The registration fee is $25 per walker to benefit the Habitat for Humanity and HELP of Southern Nevada programs in Las Vegas and is open to the general public.
Participants in the Walk-a-thon will receive a continental breakfast, a T-shirt and a raffle ticket to win valuable prizes. For more information or to register, call Dawn Bristol at 732-8177.
The Gamma Phi Delta Foundation
