Southwest Airlines will add its 59th destination city later this year, announcing last week that it would put Norfolk, Va., on its schedule.
Dallas-based Southwest, the busiest carrier at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas with 163 daily flights, said it would announce its schedule from Norfolk later this summer and will begin service in October. The airline also said it plans to enter the Richmond, Va., market in the future.
Southwest officials could not say whether Norfolk, on Virginia's coast, would be a nonstop destination to and from Las Vegas. No airline serves Norfolk from Las Vegas with nonstop flights.
