Letter: What happened to reform of Family Court?
Friday, May 25, 2001 | 10:17 a.m.
Just a few years ago the Legislature held special hearings to decide if Family Court should be abolished. Since then a few judges have gone and several new judges have been added. These new judges were well aware of what routinely occurs in this adversarial and highly emotional court. In fact, they made campaign promises to reform Family Court.
So why do we continue to hear stories of people going bankrupt, orders that don't match the videos of hearings, children with no voice or representation, and numerous double standards? I pose this question to the legislators who sat on that committee, and also to the administrators of District and Family Court.
An answer to the public would be nice right about now.
