Barbara L. Bales

Barbara L. Bales, 65, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 14, 1935, in El Paso, Texas. A resident for two years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Shara Lynn Samora of St. Louis and Terri Leigh Laurence of Sapulpa, Okla.; one son, Michael Lem Laurence of Las Vegas; her stepmother, Faydeen Goodwin of Midland, Texas; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Services will be in Texas. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Minnie Baum

Minnie Baum, 88, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. An owner of a children's and junior miss clothing store, she was born Sept. 6, 1912, in Jersey City, N.J.

She is survived by one daughter, Arlene Fisher; one son, Gene Baum; five granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren.

Neptune Society of Nevada, 8570 Del Webb Blvd., handled private arrangements.

Lawrence J. Black

Lawrence J. Black, 49, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 5, 1951, in Silver City, N.M. A resident for 13 years, he was a diesel mechanic in the construction industry.

He is survived by his wife, Donna K.; two sons, L.J. Black of Deming, N.M., and David Black of Las Cruces, N.M.; his mother, Lessie Black, and one sister, Bonnie Massey, both of Hurley, N.M.; and two grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Frank X. Brown

Frank X. Brown, 68, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born May 9, 1933, in Jamestown, N.D. A resident for eight years, he was a retired supply management officer and a Korean War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Donna L.; one daughter, Patti L. Brown of Brawley, Calif.; two sons, James A. Brown of Kingman, Ariz., Roger L. Brown of Henderson; two sisters, Virginia Mills and Shirley Ray, and two brothers, Robert Brown and Ronald Brown, all of Billings; Mont.; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Curtis Capelle

Curtis Capelle, 99, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 26, 2001, in Virginia. A resident for many years, he was a certified public accountant.

He is survived by one daughter, Madelene Capelle of Las Vegas.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson.

Douglas Cohen

Douglas Cohen, 58, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born March 9, 1943, in Rhode Island. A resident for eight years, he retired as a police officer after 26 years and was an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his companion, Nicole Osterman; and one daughter, Bridget Graham.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Joseph Fiore

Joseph Fiore, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. He was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Springfield, Mass. A resident for eight years, he was a retired salesman in the moving industry, a World War II Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Italian American Club.

He is survived by his wife, Marian; one daughter, Elizabeth Fiore of Las Vegas; one son, Gregory Fiore of Prescott, Ariz.; two sisters, Mary Barbalace of Carpentersville, Ill., and Theresa DiVerde of Elk Grove, Ill.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-6 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne. John Galbo

John Galbo, 70, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 18, 1931, in New York City. A resident for 35 years, he was a restaurateur and a Korean War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann; one daughter, Cynthia Galbo of Hayward, Calif.; and one brother, Joseph Galbo of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Sanford Legrand Gleason

Sanford Legrand Gleason, 85, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born April 14, 1916, in New York. A resident for 44 years, he was a carpenter for Reynolds Electrical and Engineering Co., an Army veteran, a member of Good Sams and the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Emma; one brother of Prescott, Ariz.; and one sister of Pennsylvania.

Visitation is scheduled 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Raymond Chester Hanson

Raymond Chester Hanson, 71, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born July 13, 1929, in Nebraska. A resident for three years, he retired as a Navy veteran after 25 years and was a member of the Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Margarete; one son, Warren Hill; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Thomas Harrell

Thomas Harrell, 82, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born April 24, 1919, in Shreveport, La. A resident for 36 years, he was a retired electrician and a member of the Masons.

He is survived by two sisters, Fay King of Kansas City, Mo., and Mildred Blakley of Detroit; one stepson, Gary DeClerk of Federal Way, Wash.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-5 p.m. Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. service in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Thomas Everet Harrison

Thomas Everet Harrison, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 19, 1926, in Detroit. A resident for 21 years, he was a DMV examiner for the state of California and a World War II Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; one son, Tommy Harrison of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Vida Reid of Laguna Hills, Calif.; three stepsons, Dennis May of Austin, Texas, Brad Stegner of Mesa, Ariz., and David Stegner of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; two daughters, Gwen Tambe of Medford, Ore., and Cheryll Kyser of Las Vegas; two brothers, Dave Harrison of Henderson and William Harrison of Ormond Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Charlotte Barker of Detroit and Irene Aozak of Newark, Ohio; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ryan Allen Horky, 16, of Henderson died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 26, 1985, in Las Vegas. He was a student at Green Valley High School.

He is survived by his parents, Gary and Deborah Horky, and one brother, Taylor Horky, both of Henderson; and his grandparents, Eugene Spry of Henderson and Bill and Jan Horky of Englewood, Fla.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Calvary Chapel of Green Valley, 33 Cactus Garden Drive. Burial will be in Paradise Memorial Gardens. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Jesse Allen Howe, 13, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 5, 1988, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his parents, Preston J. and Nancy L. Howe, one sister, Rachel Howe, one brother, Thomas Howe, and one half-sister, Tricia Bossy, all of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Barbara Howe of Las Vegas and Richard and Phyllis White of Montana.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry; three sons, David Dworkin of Las Vegas, Erik Kisker of Minot, N.D., and Craig Kisker of Vail, Colo.; two daughters, Heather Kisker of Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Shannon Kisker of Minot; her father, William Santo, and one sister, Carol Hostelter, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and one grandchild.

She is survived by one son, William Lipscomb of Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; one daughter, Rosemary Williams of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren.

Garland Edward McCollum, 56, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born April 9, 1945, in Fordyce, Ark. A resident for 44 years, he was a cable maintenance man for Sprint and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Shawn McCollum and Shane McCollum, four brothers, Larry McCollum, Carlton McCollum, Daryl McCollum and Tony McCollum, and six sisters, Bedyth McCollum, Doris McCollum, Shawn McCollum, Alwanda McCollum, Donna McCollum and Demetrious McCollum-Gibson, all of Las Vegas.

A resident for 31 years, he was a painter and wallpaper hanger, a member of the German American Club, Painter and Wallpaper Union Local 159 and the Senior Citizen Sports Activity on Bonanza Road.

He is survived by his wife, Jean.

James E. Saracino, 71, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for eight years, he was a sports book writer at the Rio and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; two sons, Robert Baker and Edward Saracino, both of New York; four daughters, Bonnie Catalano of Newark, Del., Christine Saracino and Susan May, both of New Jersey and Cara Saracino of Las Vegas; one brother, Michael Saracino, and one sister, Johanna Barletta, both of New York; and 10 grandchildren.

Clyde Shields, 64, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born May 20, 1936, in Ponca City, Okla. A resident for five years, he was retired from the masonry industry.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, Christopher Shields and David Wiggins, and one daughter, Amy Gomez, all of Las Vegas; his mother, Rosalee Duncan of Newkirk, Okla.; three brothers, Curley Shields, Ricky Shields and Wesley Shields, all of Ponca City; and five grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons, Michael Street and Shawn Street, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Stan Street of South Dakota; and one grandchild.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy; eight sons, Rod, Erik, Travis, Jason, Bradley, Jonathan, Bryan and Joseph; four daughters, Sabra, Vhana, Jasmine and Kayla; one brother, Lamar; one sister, Shauna; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

William Lloyd Wildey

William Lloyd Wildey, 73, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local health care center. He was born June 9, 1927, in North Vernon, Ind. A resident for three years, he was a schoolteacher for 48 years.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Margaret; three sons, Gary Wildey of Tehachapi, Calif., Kim Wildey of Dinuba, Calif., and Tony Wildey of Reno; one daughter, Melissa Wildey of Las Vegas; one sister, Eileen Womack of DeQueen, Ark.; and nine grandchildren.
