Companionship beneficial for 10-year-old
Wednesday, May 23, 2001 | 10:53 a.m.
A 10-year-old boy with special needs thrives in outdoor settings, and he would love to go to camp this summer, his mother says.
His family used to go camping twice a month, but since they moved from Seattle two years ago, they have encountered financial problems and they have not been able to afford it, she says.
His mother says he would benefit from spending time with other children.
Sometimes it's simple things, such as toasting marshmallows and singing around the campfire, and being around camp counselors who are positive role models, that are the memories a child carries with him through life.
By joining other contributors, you can make a difference in a child's life.
