The estate of a woman who died in a casino shuttle bus accident has filed negligence lawsuit against the casino.
Fame Operating Co., which does business as Ellis Island Casino and Brewery, was sued in Clark County District Court by the estate of Irma Cecile Broberg, her surviving son, Keith Goldsmith, and Tamara Harless, the administrator of the estate.
The suit said Broberg was a passenger in a casino shuttle bus that dropped her off at her home on Feb. 25, 2000. The suit said when the driver attempted to assist her off the bus, she fell, breaking her pelvis and injuring her head, back, legs and arms. She eventually died of her injuries, the suit said.
The suit seeks more than $22,700 in medical and funeral expenses and unspecified punitive damages.
Officials with Ellis Island could not be reached for comment.
