Letter: Only boycott will scare oil firms

Monday, May 21, 2001 | 9:10 a.m.

Right after reporting obscene profits for last year, the oil companies are playing with our heads again ... telling us that the record $2 a gallon we are paying for gas may go up to $3 this summer. That way, if prices only reach $2.50, the motorists will think that they were lucky.

Don't be fooled! The way to get them to roll prices back to $1.29 is to stage a boycott for the rest of the year of the industry leaders: Exxon, Mobil and Chevron.
