Summer Camp would help boy become an Eagle Scout

Friday, May 18, 2001 | 9:25 a.m.

A 12-year-old boy is working toward Eagle Scout and going to summer camp would help him toward that goal.

He has two siblings and is supported by his single mother, who can't afford to send him to camp.

He wants to go very badly, his mother says, and he would benefit greatly from going to summer camp.

Sometimes simple things, such as toasting marshamallows and singing around the campfire with other children and being around camp counselors who are positive role models, are the memories a child carries with him through the rest of his life.
