MINNEAPOLIS -- Travel just got a bit cheaper for some of the folks who fly first class and can plan ahead. At the same time, business travelers will have a chance to sit in first class by forking over a little more money.
Northwest Airlines has added a new domestic pricing category called First Class BizFlex for passengers who purchase their tickets 14 days in advance and stay overnight any night of the week.
The fare is expected to attract business travelers who normally would sit in coach. They'll be able to sit in first class for an additional $50 to $200 over their 14-day advance purchase BizFlex fare, a discounted fare for travelers that doesn't require a Saturday night stay.
A one-way, first-class ticket between Minneapolis and Los Angeles normally costs $1,398, while the 14-day advance purchase BizFlex coach ticket costs $998. The new 14-day First Class BizFlex fare is $1,198.
