Crown Theatres signs deal to head Neonopolis
Thursday, May 17, 2001 | 10:34 a.m.
After numerous delays and early expectations that fizzled, Neonopolis has an anchor tenant.
Connecticut-based Crown Theatres has penned a deal with project developers to head the $99 million project, Esther Quisenberry, director of governmental affairs and public relations for DRGM Advertising and Public Relations, said this morning.
Quisenberry said Crown Theatres has signed an agreement with the developer, World Entertainment Centers, with financial backing from Prudential Insurance Co.
Crown Theatres has movie theatres in Connecticut, Maryland, Florida and Illinois.
The more than 200,0000-square-foot Neonopolis, under construction at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Fremont Street, is scheduled to open in March 2002, she said.
Crown Theatures will open the 14-screen multiplex on the third floor, but developers must still find other tenants to fill the restaurants and retail shops spanning the rest of the block-long project.
