Camp would help teenage daughter interact with others

Thursday, May 17, 2001 | 10:41 a.m.

A father says his teenage daughter has not had the opportunity to interact with other children in a fun, social environment.

He would to send her to camp this summer to allow his 13-year-old daughter to do that.

"She needs to build her ability to get along with others," he says. But he cannot afford to send her to camp.

Sometimes simple things, such as toasting marshmallows and singing around a campfire with other children, or being around camp counselors who are positive role models, are the memories a child carries with her through the rest of her life.
