Victim shot to death ID’d as Calif. teenager

The name of a California woman found shot to death in a Las Vegas apartment May 8 was released this morning as 18-year-old Ashley Forney. Metro Police are searching for Forney's boyfriend for questioning in her slaying.

The pair were befriended in downtown Las Vegas by a local resident who let the pair stay at her apartment in the 6000 block of West Washington Avenue, police said. The resident told police that she left the apartment when Forney and her boyfriend started arguing.

She said that when she returned she saw the male leaving. He said Forney had left to go for a walk. However, the resident found Forney shot to death on the floor of a closet, police said. Forney's name was not released until her family was notified.
