LAKE MEAD: The fishing for striped bass and channel catfish continues to be good in the Overton Arm while anglers who have been trying their luck in the Boulder Basin have had only marginal success.
A pair of anglers who were on the water early this week reported to the Nevada Division of Wildlife that they had good success for stripers while fishing about a mile south of the Meat Hole. The fish ranged from 2-3 pounds and were caught with anchovies.
Other areas of the Overton Arm that have been productive recently include the Virgin Bowl, Fish Islands, the Muddy River and below the campground at Echo Bay.
Recent reports indicate there has been some action for stripers at Bonelli Bay and around Black Island in the Boulder Basin. Shad are moving in and out of Hemenway Harbor and are being netted for use as bait.
Channel catfish are being caught in coves with some of the better action taking place in the Virgin Bowl and the Muddy River.
LAKE MOHAVE: Most anglers are turning their attention toward Owl's Point and the narrows above Cottonwood Cove where they are catching stripers ranging from 1-2 pounds.
Willow Beach is scheduled to be stocked with rainbow trout Friday by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA: Trout fishing appears to have improved following last week's bout with strong winds and cold weather. The water temperature on all of the reservoirs is now 64 degrees, which is a good indicator that the largemouth bass fishing should soon get under way.
Most of the trout that have been caught during the past week have been in the 14-inch range, but there have been a few from 16-18 inches.
EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR: Fishing has been very good because the Nevada Division of Wildlife stocked 5,700 rainbow trout last week. Fishing for brown trout should also be good because the lake received 5,500 browns from NDOW's Gallagher Hatchery on Tuesday.
