Red Cross, city will host fair

The city of Las Vegas and the Red Cross will present a Pool Safety Fair 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Garside Middle School, 300 S. Torrey Pines Drive.

Cost is free for the entire family, with food, face painting, children's activities, appearances by local mascots, learn-to-swim enrollment and pool safety demonstrations throughout the day.

The goal of the fair is to disseminate information regarding pool safety and the importance of learning how to swim. For more information, call 791-3311.

Children's hospital will be honored

Candlelighters for Childhood Cancer of Southern Nevada will be honoring Sunrise Children's Hospital and childhood cancer survivors Ariel Donosso and Nancy Seideman at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Bellagio.

Candlelighters is a nonprofit support group that helps families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer. Financial, emotional and educational support is provided.

Seminar on tap at Greenspun Center

The Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Center of Excellence is holding a seminar on repetitive stress injuries 6-7 p.m. Monday at 100 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite 330.

This seminar will focus on identifying risk factors of common types of repetitive stress injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome and headaches.

Included in the seminar will be tips on how to set up a proper computer work station at home or at the job and warm-up and stretching exercises.

Lake Mead Hospital to host activities

Lake Mead Hospital will present the fourth annual North Las Vegas Hispanic Health Fair 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the Las Vegas Rescue Center, 1638 N. Bruce St.

The fair will include free medical check-ups, medical information, children's activities and live entertainment by the local youth group Vida.

Participants include local health care providers, North Las Vegas police, fire and other city officials as well as food and beverages vendors.

Bishop Gorman High sets annual benefit

Bishop Gorman High School is hosting its seventh annual Wine Tasting and Auction 6-10 p.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Hilton to benefit the student tuition assistance program.

The annual fund-raiser, sponsored by DeLuca Liquor and Wine, includes live and silent auctions, 100 vintners featuring over 500 wines, entertainment and an array of hors d'oeuvres.

The cost to attend the benefit is $50 per person in advance or $75 at the door.
