Alma Jo Atkinson

Alma Jo Atkinson, 43, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 26, 1957, in Alabama. A resident for eight years, she was a hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by her husband, Alfonza; two sons, Terreyon Atkinson of Utah and Shunnon Atkinson of Las Vegas; one daughter, Makalah Atkinson of Las Vegas; five brothers, James Ware and Charles Welch, both of Ashland, Ala., the Rev. Arthur Welch of Anniston, Ala., Rodney Welch of Pittsburgh and Richard Lindsey of Birmingham, Ala.; four sisters, Shirley Holder and Geneva Ball, both of Anniston, Bobbie Street of Ashland and Brenda Welch of Alabama; and seven grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Ashland. American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.

Richard A. Blake

Richard A. Blake, 45, of Las Vegas died Saturday. He was born Feb. 2, 1956, in Coronado, Calif. A resident for 12 years, he was a truck driver and a Vietnam War Navy veteran.

He is survived by one son, Nathan Blake, and one daughter, Corrine Blake, both of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; his mother, Josephine Blake, and one brother, Robert Blake, both of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Robin LeBlanc of Peabody, Mass., and Barbara Burgoyne of Manchester, N.H.

Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Jamie Castor

Jamie Castor, 26, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. A roofer and a member of the Las Vegas Extremes motorcycle group, he was born Nov. 1, 1974, in Oakland, Calif.

He is survived by his fiancee, Rachelle Kintzer, and his father, Ray Castor, both of Danville, Calif.; his mother, Jody Barnhardt, and three brothers, Jersi Barnhardt, Pvt. Gregory Barnhardt and Michael Barnhardt, all of Las Vegas; and three sisters, Kelly Dossa of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Jessica Gamboa and Jerilyn Barnhardt, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Annetta F. (G.) Davis

Annetta F. (G.) Davis, 93, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 10, 1907, in Beloit, Wis. A resident for 50 years, she was a retired hospital nurse and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Robert E. Diggins

Robert E. Diggins, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born July 12, 1925, in Jessup, Iowa. A resident for 35 years, he was a retired certified public accountant partner in an international accounting firm and a World War II Navy veteran.

Wilma E. Fairhall

Wilma E. Fairhall, 91, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born Oct. 24, 1909, in Las Vegas.

She is survived by one niece of Oak Park, Calif.

Joyce Beverly Halpern

Joyce Beverly Halpern, 63, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 9, 1937, in Hartford, Conn. A resident for 12 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Willy; one son, Scott Muravnick of Anthem, Ariz.; two daughters, Jill Powers and Lynn Muravnick, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Howard Greenberg of Northridge, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Harvey J. Jacobson, 72, of Las Vegas died May 1 in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 4, 1928.

Charlotte R. Johnson

Charlotte R. Johnson, 90, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born June 29, 1910, in Bernardsville, N.J. A resident for four years, she was a retired saleswoman.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; one son, Richard Johnson of Boulevard, Calif.; one daughter, Martha Kent of Las Vegas; two sisters, Eunice Tidwell of Antioch, Calif., and Adelina Gylstorff of Visalia, Calif.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in American Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

S. Buster Kahakua

S. Buster Kahakua, 67, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 23, 1933, in Hilo, Hawaii. A resident for five years, he was a retired field supervisor for the National Park Service and a Korean War and Vietnam War disabled Navy veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Philialoha Kahakua of Las Vegas; five sisters, Lani Wong of Anahola, Hawaii, Keala Pajimola and Lei Kimura, both of Waimea, Hawaii, Ella Florance of Waianae, Hawaii, and Patsy Navares of Laie, Hawaii; one brother, Able Kahakua of Lanai City, Hawaii; and one granddaughter.

Muriel M. Kelly

Muriel M. Kelly, 88, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born March 23, 1913, in Virden, Ill. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Robert Kelly of Las Vegas; one daughter, Dianne Patterson of San Diego; one brother, Robert Ewbank of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service was scheduled at 2 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park.

Gerhard R. Kuehn

Gerhard R. Kuehn, 70, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. He was born July 7, 1930, in Marschendorf, Germany. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired manager for the federal government and an Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Diana Kuehn Smith of Bedford, Texas, and Karen Beres of Columbia, Md.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Walter J. Kusak

Walter J. Kusak, 91, of Boulder City died Sunday in Boulder City. He was born Aug. 5, 1909, in Detroit. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired superintendent for the city Public Works Department.

He is survived by three sons, Ernie Kusak of Henderson and Dan Kusak and Cass Kusak, both of Boulder City; one sister, Sophie Naglik of Detroit; one brother, Jacob Kusak of Henderson; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-4 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Boulder City Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd.

Alma Ruth Miner, 85, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 5, 1915, in New York. A resident for 59 years, she was a retired co-owner of Poppa Gar's restaurant and a member of the Eagles.

She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Ruth Vigil of Las Vegas and Jean Rupprecht of New York; one son, John G. Miner, and one sister, Marjorie Miller, both of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Norma Lorene Rather

Norma Lorene Rather, 46, of Las Vegas died May 5 in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 23, 1954, in Scottsbluff, Neb. A resident for two weeks, she was a slot manager.

She is survived by two sons, James Hamberger of Colorado and Jason Hamberger of Las Vegas; one daughter, Tami Stricker of Las Vegas; her father, Rosco Kinchelor; her mother, Norma Lewis; one brother, Rosco Kinchelor of Tennessee; five sisters, Sandy Colzer of California, Iris Quiroz of Las Vegas, Betty Garret of Colorado and Robin Byrd and Rita Furrey, both of Nebraska; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Arthur August Rody

Arthur August Rody, 71, of Las Vegas died April 11 in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 10, 1929, in Lawrence, Kan. A resident for 28 years, he was a painter in the construction industry and an Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, Arthur Rody of Las Vegas.

Eli Rosen

Eli Rosen, 87, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born April 20, 1914, in New York City. A resident for many years, he was a retired hat maker.

He is survived by one son, Dr. Marvin Rosen of Oregon; and one daughter, Karen Collins of Coxsackie, N.Y.

Services will be in Farmingdale, N.Y. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Samuel E. Rosser

Samuel E. Rosser, 82, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born March 24, 1919, in McDonough, Ga. A resident for five years, he was a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War pilot.

He is survived by his wife, Deena L.; one daughter, Heavenly Hicks of Salt Lake City; two sons, Samuel E. Rosser Jr. of Grand Rapids, Mich., Howard James Rosser of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Billie M. Rosser of High Shoals, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 9 a.m. Thursday in the LDS Smoke Ranch Ward, 7401 Smoke Ranch Road. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Simon Sanders Sr.

Simon Sanders Sr., 94, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born Sept. 22, 1906, in Flora, Miss. A resident for two years, he was a retired supervisor for a tire manufacturer.

He is survived by two sons, Simon Sanders Jr. of Los Angeles and Robert Donald Sanders of Las Vegas; two sisters, Hattie Cosby and Flossie Sanders, both of Detroit; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.
