Letter: Gasoline boycotts would get oil barons’ attention
Tuesday, May 15, 2001 | 9:39 a.m.
It had to be expected that the energy prices were going up after "selecting" these two oil barons to the White House. After all, it is payback time to the big donors. We have not seen the end of it yet, so be prepared.
What to do about it? There is power in unity. This means it is time to work together on this (and you will see results). No company can afford to sit on their products, especially the oil cartels.
My suggestion is to boycott one gasoline product for a month's time. Exxon/Mobil, the biggest gouger with a 100 percent profit increase, would be the first one on the list. Stay away from their gas stations for the month of June. The next month, July, take Shell; after that Texaco in August. Then Chevron for September. In October boycott the rest of them, like Citgo, 76 and other companies that escaped the previous months. I am sure this will work. Power back to the people, not a few behind closed doors!
I am sure you will see results by doing this -- even the White House will become ears to the sufferings of the people.
