Williams Communications acquired by L.A. firm

Thursday, May 10, 2001 | 10:43 a.m.

Williams Communications Solutions, a provider of voice and data phone networks that operates in Southern Nevada, has been acquired by Los Angeles-based Platinum Equity. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Platinum is combining its subsidiary, Sunrise, Fla.-based Milgo Solutions, with Williams. The two merging divisions have been re-branded under a new name: Nextira.

Williams Communications Solution, formerly a division of Tulsa, Okla.-based Williams Communications Group, has about 50 employees and about 100 customers in Southern Nevada.

Nextira spokeswoman Tara Monteleone-McGinn said the forming of Nextira will not result in a reduction in Las Vegas Valley staff.
